Since October 2025, passing the practical driving test for foreign driver’s license conversion in Japan has become much more difficult.
First of all, the driving distance has increased, and additional test items have been added, such as:
Even before these changes, the pass rate was only around 10% to 20%, but now it has become even lower.
Under the previous test format, many students who took my driving lessons passed on their first or second attempt.
However, because the number of test tasks has increased, it is now much harder to pass within only a few attempts.
Therefore, I believe the fastest way to pass the practical test is to first thoroughly understand:
and then take driving lessons and the actual test afterward.
With this in mind, I have completed the “Shortest Path to Passing” Textbook
(available in English and Chinese versions as well).
I think it should also be possible to purchase the textbook, study independently without taking my lessons, and still successfully pass the test.
